The Greatest Bird Song! A Song from the Lyre Bird.

The superb lyre bird is a songbird that lives in Australia. There, it puts up some of the most amazing singing performances of the entire animal kingdom. Really, these are not just some pretty bird songs; they are in a league of their own. The superb lyre bird would be worthy competition for Police Academy’s Larvell Jones. Prehistoric crocodile beats T-Rex

We probably all think the T-Rex was the most feared and powerful creature in the prehistoric era. However, according to Gregory M. Erickson of Florida State University, the Deinosuchus was more powerful than the T-Rex. This creature lived during the late Cretaceous and its name means “terrible crocodile”. Deinosuchus fossils have been found in ten U.S. states, including Texas, Montana, and many states along the East Coast. Some of them were also found in northern Mexico.

Orangutan prostitute

For decades, great apes have been used as a means of making money for man. However, their financial
extortion has hit a new low with the prostitution of female orangutans. Once again, humanity has shown its dark side. The picture below shows Pony, a female orangutan that was used as a sex slave in an Indonesian prostitute village. Her hair had been shaved, and she sat on a mattress while being chained to a wall. She was used to satisfying the sexual urges of men, and would present herself every time a man walked past her.

Kevin Richardson, ‘The Lion Whisperer’

Most of us have heard of, Cesar Millan, ‘The Dog Whisperer’, but who of you has heard of ‘The Lion Whisperer’? It is not a joke, Kevin Richardson plays with these big cats as if they were nothing more but small kittens. His way of interacting with them is nothing short of amazing as he literally walks with lions. Aside from lions, Richardson also works with leopards and hyenas.

A real ‘angry bird’

You know angry birds? Well, this one exists in real-life. Meet the cassowary. This particular bird looks more like a feathered velociraptor from Jurassic Park than your occasional black bird. The cassowary is an extremely territorial flightless bird that is known to kick at people with a knifelike claw on each foot. Its hot temper is probably the reason why it hasn’t gone extinct like the dodo.

Liger, the biggest cat on the planet

Have you ever seen a fully grown African lion or a Siberian tiger at the zoo? If you have, you probably know they are nothing short of huge; they dwarf even the biggest of humans. The biggest lions can weigh about 550 lbs (250 kg) and the biggest tiger species, the Siberian tiger, can weigh up to 700 lbs (318 kg). So let’s say you were to combine a male lion and a female tiger. What would you get? The answer, you would get an enormous hybrid called a liger. Ligers can weigh up to 904 lbs (410 kg), dwarfing their lion and tiger parents.

Manly girls

If we think of an animal, we often think of the males of the species, and this is not surprising, because they are often more imposing and aggressive than females. However, every once in a while, an oddity pops up. In this case, the spotted hyena. How many of you knew that the female hyena is actually more manly than the male? You heard it, female hyenas pack more testosterone than males. They are bigger, more aggressive and more dominant. Even their external sex organs look surprisingly much like those of a male.
