Unimaginable suffering

This photo won the 1994 “Pulizer Prize”. It depicts a starving child during the 1993 Sudan famine, while it is crawling to a UN food camp, about a kilometer away. Behind the child, a vulture is waiting for it to die, so it can eat it.
The fate of the child is unknown, even to the photographer Kevin Carter, who immediately left the scene after he had taken the picture. Three months later, Kevin Carter committed suicide due to depression, as the horrible images of violence an misery he witnessed as a photojournalist became too much to live with.
